April was... interesting.

Oh boy, have you ever done all the planning in the world and something like a Multi-Cultural night just throws a wrench into the transmission? Let me explain.

Loz and I have done everything in our power to not get sick over the last 3 years. We wore masks, got our shots and boosters and stayed home and away from people to help us not get sick and spread it to others. It was bound to happen. I mean it's just science and statistics, right? Luck is sometimes on my side, not this time though. (Spoiler, we're both fine.)
Covid had struck, and it couldn't have come at a worse time. The morning that we left, Loz had a little tickle, but didn't think too much of it. By the next day she was running a temp and coughing nonstop. I was feeling fine, but I knew it was a matter of time. With one day under our belts for our holiday, we had to call it and come home. It was a good thing too, about hour 4 of the 6 hour drive, it hit me too.
We spent the next week of our well deserved vacation, hold up in bed, marathoning Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I will tell you this right now, Covid is no joke, and I felt like complete shit for a week. I'm here to embrace things and especially the mundane. I was kind of excited to experience this and see what getting Covid was actually like.

One of the things that I was most worried about was losing my sense of taste. I mean, take my sense of smell, but leave me my taste! I was doomed for sure. 4 days in, I lost it. It is wild. I am just chowing down super tasteful foods, but could barely tell you what it was. My favorite was lime popsicles. Normally they are so tart and limey that I can only get a little into them before I have to tap out. I just slammed them after my taste was gone. Hot sauce was the same way. Throw it on everything, at least I can feel the heat. To be honest, it was kind of depressing. You find, even water tastes like something. Losing my taste might have been the strangest part of that whole experience. It sucks and 0/10 would recommend.

The next couple of weeks were really spent just trying to get our strength back and a couple of quick trips around the area. We were feeling super stircrazy and needed out of the house. We went out the the beach and let the puppers get some good romping around. It was a blast and I'm so stoked we took the time to get out there. Getting some fresh air and seeing something other than our house was so nice.

We were out the this last weekend camping at Lake Sylvia State Park, and I think I can sum it up with one quote; "It's time to take our medicine." What I mean by that is, medicine isn't always going to taste awesome, but sometimes you have to suck it up and do it for the greater good. We have been spoiled this year by camping at almost empty campgrounds. A full campground was our medicine.

With the campground full you get all sorts of campers out there, but there were a few that stand out. The biggest one was the fella that was parked in our parking spot at our campsite. NOTHING is more annoying than pulling in after a drive and seeing a truck parked where you are supposed to be unload. Pro Tip: Do not park in someone else campsite. After that it was fine, we got set up and hung out by the lake. It was nice, relaxing and to my surprise, pretty quiet for the most part.
