Well Happy New Year and welcome back to Seas To Trees Adventures. It’s been a while since I wrote anything down and I just wanted to give some update on that. There might be some new posts that dive into how I’ve been feeling lately, and see if that can generate a spark in me, but more on that later. Here is what we have been up to lately and where we have been!

Person taking photo of himself
I don't really like taking photos of myself, but I'm trying to get over that.

This fall, I spent a lot of time photographing Cyclocross racing. It was pretty fun as my friend Mike was really getting into it and doing pretty well at it. He podiumed a couple of times and won at least once! It wasn’t until a nasty tumble at LeMay that it put this season to bed for him. For me, it was a good time to practice shooting fast moving objects that I hope would translate into wildlife photography. Here are a bunch of my favorite photos from the races.

We actually did go camping in October at Lake Sylvia. It was a cold, but nice trip. I was able to do some reading and we ended up going for a nice little hike around the lake. It was crisp, but I think we all enjoyed it. I’m not sure what I cooked during that trip, but I’m sure it will come back to me.

Late November sucked. My Father passed away. We had to travel to Minnesota to clean out his house. It’s been a hard thing to deal with, but I will get more into that later. Here are some photos from around that time.

In July we had this crazy idea to head to Tulum, Mx for Christmas and decided that it would be a good idea to renew our vows. We decided to invite most of our family (Sorry Chris!) and I think they had themselves a good time. TRS Yucatan really knows how to take care of people. The entire resort is great, but the staff is what really makes it the best place to stay when you're in the area.

This brings us to January. January has been a pretty normal month so far. Loz has returned to work and I’m back to planning this year's activities. So far I don’t have a lot planned, but I’m trying to get the motivation to get back into the swing of things.

Until next time - Mikey J
